Geometers, our first quiz is this week. As you may know by now, chapter 5 in Geometry is your first "real" attempt as proofs. These proofs are based around congruence.

### Algebra: 12/3 -12-7

We are starting chapter 5 in algebra: Linear Sentences. Here are some skills that you will learn in chapter 5:

- Solve linear equations of the form
*ax*+*b*=*cx*+*d.*(5-3, 5-8) - Solve linear inequalities of the form
*ax*+*b*<*cx*+*d.*(5-6, 5-8) - Use chunking to simplify or evaluate expressions or to solve equations. (5-9)
- Find equivalent forms of formulas and equations. (5-7)

In other words, you may notice that your homework will take you a bit longer than normal this chapter. Please plan for that and use your class work time even more wisely than you usually do. ;-)
