Geometry: 12/3 - 12/7

Geometers, our first quiz is this week. As you may know by now, chapter 5 in Geometry is your first "real" attempt as proofs. These proofs are based around congruence.

Algebra: 12/3 -12-7

We are starting chapter 5 in algebra: Linear Sentences. Here are some skills that you will learn in chapter 5:
  • Solve linear equations of the form ax + b = cx + d. (5-3, 5-8)
  • Solve linear inequalities of the form ax + b < cx + d. (5-6, 5-8)
  • Use chunking to simplify or evaluate expressions or to solve equations. (5-9)
  • Find equivalent forms of formulas and equations. (5-7)

Geometry 11/5-11/9

Scholars,

We begin chapter 4, Reflections to Congruence, as we also begin quarter 2. This chapter contains a lot of constructing figures and their images. In other words, you may notice that your homework will take you a bit longer than normal this chapter. Please plan for that and use your class work time even more wisely than you usually do. ;-)

Can you believe it? This is the last week of quarter 1. In fact, all of your homework for chapter 3 will go on your quarter 2 grades. If you are missing any tests or quizzes, be sure that they are made up by 10/30. I will not be accepting missing work after that date.

Can you believe it? It is the end of 1st Quarter. The chapter 3 test this week is the last grade on 1st quarter grades. If you have any missing work, be sure to get it done before the test!!! As you know, after the test, it is no longer worth credit.

We have a quiz this week cover sections 2.1 - 2.3. Remember, homework quizzes can happen any day so be sure to show the original problem, your work, and the correct final answer. Also, be sure to check your answers to ensure your responses are correct.

Geometry students,

Please remember to get your homework quiz signed by a parent for next class. Their signature on your homework quiz is worth 5 points. Remember to always write the original problem, show your work, and have the correct final answer in your nightly homework. If you do that on your homework, you will do great on your homework quizzes. Until then, you scores will be less than satisfactory.

This week, we have a quiz on Monday Oct. 1. ALSO, please update your stamp sheet due dates. Change the Quiz and 2-5 from 10/3 to 10/1...and then fill the remaining dates accordingly. The test will be on 10/9.

Geometry 9/24 - 9/28

Math scholars, can you believe it? We are already starting our 4th week of school! As of Friday, 9/21/07, you have received your first grade update via Edline. Not to mention, we have already completed chapter 1.

Chapter 2 takes us into the uses of language and logic in geometry. Conditionals (if-then statements), converses, unions/intersections, and the need for definitions just to name a few headliners.

I have also posted a link to a video I would like everyone to watch, if you have not already seen it. It is is called, "Did you know 2.0." It is the top video in my list on the right side of my blog.

Geometry students,

As we begin our third week of class, I want to extend my appreciation for a great start to the school year in all of my classes. I expect standard to be continued throughout the year and I believe that you, my students, strive for success academically and socially in my classroom and life.

This week in algebra brings you your first test. Chapter 1 Test is at the end of the week. (Remember, for exact dates, please check your stamp sheet or Edine). Be sure to complete the study guide (located on Edline) and Progress Self-Test (PST) to ensure your best chance of success on the chapter 1 test. Also, remember that no missing work can be turned in from chapter 1 after we complete the chapter. If you having missing work, be sure you have it with you on the day of the test to get half credit for it.
